Monroe County opens new EOC  

MARATHON — Monroe County hosted a grand-opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday, Sept. 23, for the new Monroe County Emergency Operations Center and then, later in the afternoon, hosted its first coordinating call with National Weather Service Key West from the new center to discuss then-Tropical Storm Helene, which was moving from the Caribbean into the Gulf of Mexico.
