Home to more than 300,000 residents in northwest Florida, Escambia County is the westernmost and one of the oldest counties in the state. Picture perfect white sand beaches and clear, emerald Gulf waters draw millions of vacationers to Escambia each year. Major industries in Escambia County include tourism, healthcare, education, military, and manufacturing. The county also boasts numerous parks, nature trails, and recreational facilities. The Pensacola Naval Air Station is a significant military presence in the area. Join us as we spend a day exploring all that Escambia County has to offer!
Veterans Memorial Park of Pensacola

Home to the first permanent replica of the National Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Pensacola’s Veterans Memorial Park opened on five acres in 1992. The neglected land was restored and now hosts thirteen monuments and welcomes more than 118,000 visitors annually. Learn how a group of dedicated volunteers and community leaders, built a one-of-a-kind memorial in honor of all of those that have served.

Project GreenShores
Storm protection and environmental restoration, Project Greenshores is comprised of two sites over 35 acres in Pensacola Bay. The restored shoreline protects Pensacola’s urban center from hurricanes and has become home to more than 50 bird species, sea life, oyster reefs and sea grasses. Come see what can happen when federal, state and local government join with private businesses and service organizations over the course of 25 years!

IHMC is a not-for-profit research institute of the Florida University System and is affiliated with several Florida universities. Created at the University of West Florida, the IHMC main campus located in historic downtown Pensacola opened in 1999 as part of the city’s urban core revitalization and a branch campus in Ocala opened in 2010.  Researchers at IHMC pioneer technologies aimed at leveraging and extending human capabilities.

Are you ready to fly?  You won’t want to miss the coolest camp you never got to attend – the National Flight Academy is located on the Pensacola Naval Base and is a 102,00 sq. ft. ‘naval aircraft carrier’.  On board you will hear all about this amazing STEM program for kids and even corporate retreats for America’s businesses. While you are there you will board and pilot a fighter jet in one of their full-motion top tech simulators.

Lunch will be provided at the flight academy.

Whether or not you are a naval aviation buff, you can’t help but be in awe wandering through this Smithsonian worthy museum. The ingenuity and awesomeness of America’s naval aviation is incredible. Feel sheer gratitude when you touch where bullets penetrated the hull of a fighter plane during World War II. This beautiful museum hosts more than 4,000 exhibits and 150 restored aircraft from the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.

Lunch will be provided at the flight academy.
