The City of Boca Raton is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Building Official which provides oversight, leadership and supervision of the Building/Code Compliance Division within the Development Services Department. The Division has 57 FTEs and an annual operating budget of $6.7 million. The Building Official reports to the Deputy City Manager and supervises the Chief Inspectors for Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing and Electric; directs and coordinates the Division’s plan review process; and, oversees the issuance of building permits and certificates of occupancy. The Building Official serves as the enforcing officer of the Florida Building Code and other applicable codes and standards as mandated by State Statutes. Candidates must have a combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and extensive experience in building, electrical and plumbing inspection work with substantial supervisory responsibilities, preferably in municipal government. Must possess certification by the State of Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board as a Building Code Administrator. The salary range is open, dependent upon qualifications.
