ASSISTANT COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR

 

Salary: $133,902 Annually, negotiable depending on qualifications

Department: County Administration

Location: 301 N. Olive Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33401

Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday - Friday

Other: Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.

 

THIS IS AN AT-WILL POSITION.

 

Assists the County Administrator in the management of County departments, agencies, special offices and programs. Responsible for supervision of the daily operations of County government. Directs department heads in the daily management of County operations. Approves criteria for evaluation of effectiveness of departmental programs and operations. Evaluates departments’ performance. Assists department heads with administrative problems and procedures. Provides long range planning and policy direction in assigned areas. Confers with representatives of other jurisdictions, developers, private industry, civic and community groups on matters of interest pertaining to assigned departments or functions. Reviews departmental budget requests and provides advice, assistance, authorizes changes as necessary. Conducts fact‑finding studies, observes operations and determines changes needed to departmental policies or procedures. Initiates and carries through to completion special programs and projects as directed by the County Administrator. Work is reviewed by the County Administrator through conferences, reports and observation of results achieved.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Public/Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related; minimum of seven (7) years progressively responsible managerial experience. Equivalency: Unrelated Bachelor’s Degree and nine (9) years of related experience.

 

PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE: Government management work experience.
