Director, West 192 Development Authority

 

Osceola County is seeking well qualified candidates for the position of West 192 Director.

 

Osceola County is located in the heart of Central Florida, covering 1,506 square miles and with a population of approximately 336,015.  Osceola County is ideally located, from several perspectives. It has historically served as a transportation crossroad and is currently traversed by the Florida East Coast, Seaboard and Amtrak Railroad Systems, Interstate Highway 4 and U.S. 17/92, 441 and 192, and the Florida Turnpike. In addition to its own Kissimmee Gateway Airport, Orlando International Airport is only 10 miles away. Disney World and the many other Central Florida tourist attractions are minutes away.

 

This is a leadership position responsible for working with the W192 Development Authority Board to establish and implement programs developed by the Authority Board pursuant to the adopted W192 Redevelopment Plan. The W192 Development Authority is the single management agency responsible to oversee all of the programs and projects related to planning, coordinating, implementing and managing the redevelopment and revitalization of the W192 tourism district. W192 is an integral part of an economy that attracts more that 50 million visitors per year and is closely connected to the world’s top tourist destination – Disney World.

 

Candidates must have experience, skills and a demonstrated ability to retain, improve, expand, and recruit businesses that can contribute to the sustained economic growth and vitality of the West 192 Corridor and its success both as a major tourist destination and a major commercial and business corridor as envisaged by the Redevelopment Plan.

 

The ideal candidate will develop strong working and professional relationships with business entities, as well as public and private sector organizations working in tandem with the Authority to successfully implement the Redevelopment Plan. The knowledge and skills essential to the position include experience in public and private finance, negotiation and problem solving skills. In addition, the successful candidate should have excellent public relations, public speaking and communication skills.

 

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Planning or a related field; supplemented by four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative or managerial experience in planning; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.
