The 2018 Legislative Session is approaching quickly and the FAC policy process has begun.

Do you have a concern that you think we should be advocating on? A different approach to an issue we’re already advocating on? Tell us about it! Follow the link below to submit a policy proposal and your idea will be considered during the FAC Policy Conference and the FAC Legislative Conference for inclusion in next session’s policy program.

Proposals should include:

  • a draft policy statement declaring support or opposition to an issue;
  • any relevant history explaining why the policy position should be established;
  • information and/or statistics on how the policy impacts your county and any statewide implications; and,
  • the fiscal impact of either the problem the policy position would correct or fiscal impact of implementing the proposed policy.

All proposed policy positions must be submitted by August 25, 2017.

The 2018 Legislative Session convenes on January 9, 2018 with Interim Committee weeks beginning in September and running through December. Members should be prepared to debate and vote on policies at the 2017 FAC Policy Forum in Osceola County September 27 - 28. This will provide staff with the direction needed to work through the Interim Committee weeks. The membership will reconvene and vote on the final legislative platform and priorities at the 2017 FAC Legislative Conference in Sarasota County, November 15-17.

Your participation in the policy development process is needed to ensure that we are advocating for the needs of all 67 counties. We encourage you to take the time to submit your policy ideas by August 25th and be present at both the 2017 Policy Forum and Legislative Conference to debate and vote on FAC's priority issues.
