Each year, the National Association of Counties (NACo) encourages counties to promote county government programs and services provided in their communities and to celebrate their successes during the month of April. This year’s theme is “Ready and Resilient Counties: Prepare. Respond. Thrive.” This is a great time for counties to focus on how they prepare and respond to natural disasters and emergencies in addition to other situations counties may face, such as economic recovery or public health and safety challenges. NACo has prepared many resources for counties to use in promoting National County Government Month, including the 2014 National County Government Month booklet that details various ways to promote your community. If your county has planned activities throughout the month of April, NACo wants to know about it. Please contact NACo Public Affairs Director, Tom Goodman, for further information at 202.942.4222.
