CCC/CGEP WORKSHOP - UNDERSTANDING CHARTER GOVERNMENT – SEPTEMBER 29, 2017 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Registration for the upcoming Policy Committee Conference will open soon. Included in the registration fee is the opportunity to attend an elective workshop on Understanding Charter Government. You won’t want to miss this workshop on Friday morning. The state constitution provides Floridians the power to restructure their county government through the development of a county charter subject to approval by the electorate.

The 2018 Legislative Session is approaching quickly and the FAC policy process has begun. Do you have a concern that you think we should be advocating on? THE ACC APPLICATION WILL BE AVAILABLE ON AUGUST 15, 2017

Registration for the ACC Program will be available on August 15. Before you apply to attend the ACC program, please check your calendars to ensure that you may attend all 3 sessions which are required to graduate from the ACC Program. In order to apply for the ACC Program, you must be a CCC graduate. The tuition fee for the ACC Program is $450, which covers the cost of all three sessions as well as the group dinner on Thursday night, breakfast on Friday morning, and lunch on Friday afternoon (AND drinks and snacks during the sessions).

2017 Online Ethics, Public Records & Sunshine Law Workshop

Commissioners and other Constitutional Officers are state mandated to take four hours of ethics programming each calendar year. This workshop is open to Commissioners, County Staff and all other Constitutional Officers. Participants who complete this workshop in its entirety will receive 6 core credits toward the CCC Certification as well as fulfill their 2017 Ethics requirement for the state. Since 1996, as part of FAC's Certified County Commissioner (CCC) Program, FAC has offered a comprehensive 6 hour mandatory Ethics, Public Records & Sunshine Law Course. Our existing course meets the requirements addressed in state law.

Charlotte High Grad Receives 2017 FAC Presidential Scholarship Award

FAC President and Charlotte County Commissioner Christopher Constance, M.D., presented Evan Flores, Charlotte High School graduate, with a $2,000 Presidential Scholarship during a Board of County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, July 11. Flores will use the money to pursue degrees in biochemistry and political science at Florida State University.
