GOV. RICK SCOTT APPOINTS MEMBERS TO FLORIDA CONSTITUTION REVISION COMMISSION

Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of 14 members to the Florida Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) in accordance with Article XI, Section II of the Florida Constitution. The Governor appointed Carlos Beruff as Chairman of the Commission on Wednesday. The 37–member Commission convenes every 20 years to review Florida’s Constitution and propose potential changes to be approved by Florida voters.

Florida Supreme Court affirms a city’s right to accept payments in lieu of taxes from nonprofits

Bryant Miller Olive’s Alan Zimmet represents City of Largo in far-reaching case Tallahassee, Fla., Mar. 3, 2017 – In a major victory for the City of Largo with implications for municipalities around the state, the Florida Supreme Court in a 6-0 decision yesterday upheld Largo’s right to accept payments in lieu of taxes from a nonprofit organization that owns an affordable housing community in the City.
