Legislative Conference - It's not too late to register!

Legislative Conference is just around the corner – county commissioners and staff will soon be coming together to decide the 2017 legislative priorities for Florida's 67 counties.  Make sure the voice of your county is heard and register today!  Online registration is open until next Wednesday, November 23rd.  After this date, you will need to register on-site (at the higher on-site rate). On-site registration will be open on Tuesday, 11/29 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, 11/30 at 7:30 a.m. at the Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace in the Great Hall Foyer.  We hope you have Happy Thanksgiving and look forward to seeing you in Orange County!

Counties Impacted by Revenue Limitations and Unfunded Mandates

Counties fiscally constrained amid rising service mandates WASHINGTON — States increasingly limit counties’ capacity to raise adequate revenue to fund their activities. At the same time, state and federal governments are imposing more mandates on counties, without providing adequate funding, new research from the National Association of Counties (NACo) shows.

House Oversight Committee Report Finds Politicization of WOTUS Rulemaking On October 27, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee released a staff report detailing findings from its two-year investigation into the Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rulemaking process. The report alleges that pressure from the White House and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) led to a rulemaking that was a case study in legal shortcuts, predetermined conclusions, and politically motivated timelines.
