Miami-Dade County, located in Southeast Florida, is the seventh-most populous county in the United States with 2.7 million residents.  The largest county in Florida by population, Miami-Dade is the third-largest in the state in terms of land area, covering 1,946 square miles.  The County is one of the largest governments in the southeast with a $7.14 billion annual budget and 26,773 employees.  The Mayor of Miami-Dade County is elected countywide to serve a four-year term and is considered a "strong mayor,” and is responsible for appointing the County’s Department Directors.  The Miami-Dade Public Housing and Community Development Department (PHCD) is the sixth largest housing agency in the nation.  PHCD is responsible for housing more than 30,000 residents inclusive of public housing, providing Section 8 subsidized payments for 14,000 families and administering an array of specialized housing opportunities for special populations including the homeless.  PHCD administers federal subsidies that support almost 10,000 units of public and other assisted housing.  The Director of Public Housing Division reports to the Director of Public Housing and Community Development and is responsible for a budget of $72 million and approximately 275 FTEs.  A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years of professional administrative experience in large-scale public housing or subsidized public housing programs to include performing various types of internal control assessments, management efficiency studies, Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program, and financial/budget analysis; AND experience in project management, property maintenance and construction is required.  Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.  Must possess certification by a national public housing accrediting organization such as NAHRO, Nan McKay or Quadel within one (1) year of hire.  Experience at a public housing authority of at least 8,000 Annual Contributions Contract (ACC/Public Housing) units and extensive working knowledge of public housing rules, regulations and policies is preferred.  A Master’s in Business Administration/Finance or Law degree in a relevant discipline is a plus.  The starting salary is open, dependent upon qualifications.  The County offers an attractive benefits package.  To apply, visit and apply online.  Questions may be directed to Ms. S.
