Lake County (323,000+), nestled in the heart of Florida, is seeking applications from highly skilled candidates to serve as the County’s next Public Works Director.


The Public Works Director oversees 177 employees, the $64.7 million fiscal year 2018 budget, and the departments’ four divisions: Engineering, Environmental Services, Road Operations, and Solid Waste. The successful candidate will plan, direct and supervise all programs and operations of the Public Works Department, including the management of the County’s roads and bridges, stormwater systems, solid waste collection, recycling, and disposal, mosquito and aquatic plant management, and engineering programs.


Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration or a closely related field and a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible related experience. A valid Florida driver’s license.


Lake County offers a competitive salary range ($86,548 - $142,625) DOQ/DOE. The County also provides a comprehensive benefits package including participation in health, life, dental and long-term disability insurance and will participate in the Florida Retirement System. Relocation expenses may be negotiated with the County.
