In recent weeks the White House, EPA and US Corp of Army Engineers have made it clear that they intend to finalize the proposed rule on the Water of the U.S. (WOTUS). We have concerns with the expansion of federal jurisdiction supported by new terms and definitions in the rule, which may lead to significant costs to counties and our local partners.
The administration continues to move forward despite considerable opposition, so we strongly encourage counties to share their concerns about the rule. Comments must be submitted by October 20, 2014.
The National Association of Counties has provided on their website policy briefs, analysis and template letters available for your use.
