Flagler County is seeking a positive, highly motivated individual with high standards that will direct the Division of Emergency Management to achieve a high state of operational goals within budgeted funds and available personnel. This individual will provide effective leadership and direction in the administration of Emergency Management activities; ensure proper functioning of assigned staff; effectively plan and organize workloads, schedules and assignments; review overall operational effectiveness and direct changes in priorities of schedules as needed to assure professionalism, adequacy, accuracy and timeliness of services provided. This individual will work independently under the general direction of the County Administrator.
Flagler County has been hit with two hurricanes over the last year that have impacted the County in many different ways. We are looking for a leader that will refine and strengthen our processes and assist in creating a high state of readiness. Our vision is an emergency management program that anticipates and responds to emergencies through effective coordination of response networks and the ability to serve the needs of all citizens before, during and after a disaster. This individual must be an effective communicator, successful at collaboration, a strategic planner and a proven leader.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will have a four year degree in Emergency Management, Planning, Public Administration or a related field preferred. Experience working in a County emergency operations center and/or military operations experience is preferred. Any equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills and ability required to perform the work.
