Escambia County BCC is seeking an Engineer - Structural

                                                                                                                        Starting Salary Range:  $75,000 to $85,000 Annually

                                                                                                                                        Salary commensurate with experience

Under the direction of the Public Works Director, the Structural Engineer will manage ongoing capital improvement work for county bridges and performs highly skilled duties for projects and engineering design and is responsible for contracts, inspections, personnel, cost analysis and plans and specifications.  This class reports to the Director of Public Works.


Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and a minimum of seven years' work experience as a Licensed Professional Engineer, with experience in design and construction management, and at least one year experience in a supervisory role; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Structural Engineering
Experience in design with structural steel, conventional and post-tensioned concrete, masonry, and high wind design 
Experience in roadway, bridges and stormwater hydrology
Bridge rehab skills, National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) certified

Licensing & Certifications Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
