Suwannee County Commissioner Randy Hatch installed as FAC President
-Martin County Commissioner Doug Smith elected to serve as 2nd Vice President-
Suwanee County Commissioner Randy Hatch was elected, by his peers across Florida, to serve as President of the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) and was installed as such during the Association’s 79th Annual Conference.
As President, Commissioner Hatch will oversee the association for one year directing policy, advocacy, and the administration of the Florida Association of Counties. The Association’s mission is to increase the capacity of Florida counties to effectively serve the citizens of the state through legislative action, education of public officials, and enhancement of public awareness about the role and functions of county government.
“I am pleased to serve this organization which represents the fabric of our state,” said Commissioner Hatch. “This next year I am committed to restoring the partnership between state and local governments to work together for the betterment of Florida’s citizens.”
The Association is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of one county commissioner from each state senate district (40); five executive officers; six county commissioners appointed at-large with no more than three of the six from counties with population of 75,000 or more; and the past presidents of the FAC.
“Commissioner Hatch is an exemplary public servant,” said FAC Executive Director Chris Holley, “His commitment to restoring the relationship between state and local governments is just what our association and Florida needs.”
Other FAC officers installed were President-Elect, Alachua County Commissioner Rodney Long; 1st Vice President, Broward County Commissioner Illene Lieberman; 2nd Vice President Martin County Commissioner Doug Smith; and Immediate Past President, Orange County Commissioner Teresa Jacobs. In addition, elections were held for our board of directors even numbered districts. For a complete list of FAC’s Board of Directors, click here.
