The City of Milton, Florida, (population 10,000) is a diverse community located within Santa Rosa County in Northwest Florida, encompassing approximately 5.5 square miles. The City of Milton is governed by an 8 member City Council and Mayor, operating under the council/manager form of government with approximately 135 full time employees. The council and mayor are elected by the city at-large and serve staggered 4 year terms.
The city provides a wide range of governmental services and utilities, including fire and police services, parks and recreation, sanitation, water, sewer, natural gas, planning, building, zoning, code enforcement and community development.
The City Manager in keeping with Council direction is responsible for the overall direction of the City. This position requires the exercise of independent judgement in the performance of the duties of the office. The incumbent makes unilateral decisions as necessary to accomplish city goals and objectives. Work is performed with discretion and latitude in the conduct of city operations.
Education: Master’s degree in Public Administration or related field or a Bachelor’s degree with ICMA-CM certification.
Experience: Five (5) years’ experience in local government administration or 8+ years in a senior management position.
