Assistant County Administrator
SALARY: $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 Annually

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of the position is to assist the County Administrator as assigned. Ensures
that all directives, decisions, policies, resolutions, ordinances and regulations issued by
the Board of County Commissioners and County Administrator are executed. The position
researches and formulates long range goals for the organization; develops policy and
position papers with the County Administrator and/or elected officials.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervises and coordinates the activities of assigned department or operations for the
County Administrator and implements plans, programs and actions consistent with the
direction of the County Administrator. Coordinates the activities of and communications
among assigned departments to include problem identification, problem resolution and
completion of major projects.


Attends and participates in Board of County Commissioners' meetings. Reports on
research, special projects and other relevant information.
Assists in the development of the Capital Improvement Program. Initiates corrective
action as directed to revise or amend budgets and/or work programs to accomplish
objectives established by the County Administrator.


Confers with appropriate department directors and division managers in the preparation
and development of operational plans for special projects.
Develops strategies and recommends short and long-range courses of action to the
County Administrator regarding efficient systems and procedures for the effective
administration of policies.


Assists in the evaluation and prioritization of County-wide projects and work programs, to
include formal and informal monitoring of progress toward project completion and
development of various statistical/management reports.


Performs duties of County Administrator in the absence of the Administrator.
Prepares and processes various documents, reports and records including performance
evaluations, job applications, budgets, correspondence, business letters, agenda items,
comprehensive plans and proposals, etc.


Interacts and communicates with a variety of individuals and groups including County
Administrator, Board of County Commissioners, department directors and employees,
elected officials, attorneys, general public, other constitutional officers, committee
members, consultants, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Training, and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Bus iness, Public Administration or related field. Master's
degree in Business or Public Administration desired. Requires at least five years of
experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Skills:
Requires valid Florida Driver License. ICM A credentialed manager desired. Must have or
be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management
System (NIMS) courses 100B and 700A. Must have strong working knowledge of
computers and Microsoft Office Products.

Basis of Rating: No written test is required. Applications will be carefully reviewed to
assess each individual's qualifications. Selected persons will be interviewed to determine
who will be hired for the job. The kind and length of related work experience, training and
education shown on the application will be an important consideration in the screening
process. Must successfully pass an employment reference check, criminal background
check, physical examination and drug test.
