FRS Reform

Williams v. Rick Scott

A class of plaintiffs has brought suit against the governor, challenging SB 2100, and two of its FRS reform components.  Specifically, the complaint alleges that the 3% required employee contribution and the lowering of the cost of living adjustments each violate the employees' protections against impairment of contract by the state; their right to collectively bargain; and amount to an unlawful taking of property.  A trial was held on October 26, 2011.
