    FAC Annual Conference

    Tampa Waterside Marriott (Hillsborough County): June 29-July 2, 2010
    This year’s Annual Conference is packed full of exciting and informational educational sessions.  Here are a few of the conference highlights:
    Opening General Session
    Our keynote speaker, Jon Gordon, will kick off the conference at the Opening General Session on Wednesday.  Jon is a consultant and international best-selling author.  His positive spirit and simple message empowers people to live and work with more vision, optimism, positive energy and purpose.  He is a must-see!

    Oil Spill Briefing – Governor Crist Invited to Participate

    FAC has invited Governor Charlie Crist and members of his emergency response team to the Annual Business Meeting on Thursday  to update members on the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. He will discuss how Florida's response and recovery efforts are advancing and the plans for economic and tourism recovery.

    Gubernatorial Candidates to Speak with Conference Attendees

    FAC has invited all of the gubernatorial candidates to participate at the Annual Conference.  The offices of the Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum and Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink have both indicated that they plan to attend. Bill McCollum is scheduled to speak at the Awards Luncheon on Wednesday and Alex Sink at the Installation Lunch on Thursday. We have also extended invitations to the Rick Scott and Bud Chiles campaigns.

    Closing General Session

    Make sure that you plan to stay for the plated breakfast and Closing General Session on Friday morning! After installing the 2010-11 FAC Officers and Board of Directors, the conference will conclude with a dynamic, fun-filled presentation by comedian Kenn Kington that you will not want to miss! Kenn will discuss, “How to Speak so People will Listen,” his presentation will have you laughing hard, learning a little and leave you with ways to genuinely connect with everyone that you meet.

    CCC Workshops at Annual Conference

    This year's conference offers an incredible opportunity to earn up to 15 credits toward the County Commissioners Certification (CCC) Program. By simply registering and attending the conference you will earn 3 Continuing Education credits. Attend the Financial Management workshop on Wednesday morning, June 30 for 6 Core Credits; add the Effective Communications 3-part workshop series on Thursday, July 1 for 3 Elective Credits. These programs are included in your conference registration fee, and if you participate in all of them, you will receive a total of 12 CCC credits.  To earn an additional 3 Elective credits, for a total of 15 CCC credits, register for Friday's Post-Conference Workshop on Environmental Planning.
