    FAC coordinating for counties on Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill

    FAC is actively engaged in working with counties and the state emergency response to the April 20 BP Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill.  This disaster has few similarities to the hurricanes Florida’s counties are accustomed to dealing with making communications between our counties the state, US Coast Guard and BP critical.     Governor and Attorney General Announce Legal Advisory Council in response to Deep Water Horizon

    This week the Governor and the Attorney General announced the launch of an oil spill legal advisory council.  This county will be led by former Attorneys General Jim Smith and Bob Butterworth.  The Council is charged with collecting the ideas and suggestions of the council members, including general courses of action to be taken now; legal strategies and theories; and data and information collection and preservation.     FAC sends letters of support to Governor

    Governor Signs Red Light Camera Bill

    On sine die, April 30, HB 325 - relating to the use of automated traffic enforcement for red light violators - was signed by the officers of the Senate and the House and presented to the Governor.  This bill has been filed for the last five years and FAC and many other public interest groups have lobbied hard for its passage.  This collaborative effort was rewarded this week when the Governor signed the bill into law.     2010 State EMS Awards

    Leon County EMS has been awarded EMS Provider of the year by the Department of Health's Bureau of Emergency Medical Services. This award recognizes a licensed EMS provider that has assumed a leadership role in the Florida EMS community, demonstrated outstanding initiative in the area of public education and training, and demonstrated excellence in the areas of quality assurance and medical control protocol implementation. FAC would like to congratulation Leon County on this achievement and thank them for their continued commitment to excellence. Read More
