The Associated Industries of Florida and Florida Hospital Association, along with local business and health care groups from around the state, are partnering to promote a plan to provide health insurance to an additional one million Floridians.  “A Healthy Florida Works” proposes to utilize the billions of dollars made available through the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to cover individuals who earn up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level, which equates to approximately $16,000 for an individual or $33,000 for a family of four.  Beneficiaries would choose health plans from private managed care providers under contract with the state’s Agency for Health Care Administration.  The proposal is largely similar to 2013 legislation that passed in the Senate, but failed in the House.  More information about the coalition and proposal is available here:  http://ahealthyfloridaworks.com/our-plan/
