Our theme for FAC’s Annual Conference this year’s is “Civility. Opportunity. Unity.” The Opening General Session on Wednesday, June 26 (2:00 – 3:30 p.m.) will focus on Civility: Manners, Morals and the Etiquette of Democracy.  Our keynote speaker will be Stephen L. Carter, a prolific writer and Professor of Law at Yale University.  For the last 30 years, Professor Carter has taught many courses at Yale including law and religion, the ethics of war, contracts, evidence, and professional responsibility.  In addition to his teaching, he has written several books (both nonfiction and fiction) and regularly writes articles for and is a commentator to several news agencies including  Bloomberg View, Newsweek and The Daily Beast. He also blogs about professional football for the Washington Post. Professor Carter’s fictional novel, The Emperor of Ocean Park, spent eleven weeks on the New York Times best-seller list and his nonfiction book titled, Civility: Manners, Morals and the Etiquette of Democracy will be discussed during our event.
