FAC is pleased to announce the upcoming Emergency Management workshop on May 16th in Seminole County from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm.  Commissioners - if you attend the workshop in its entirety, you will earn 6 elective credits toward your CCC Certification.

The workshop is designed to help county commissioners, county staff, and others understand how to evaluate a county’s risk and vulnerability to natural disasters and how to identify appropriate measures that will reduce that risk.  It will also touch upon what state and federal resources (i.e., grants) are available to counties to implement wind mitigation measures and how to evaluate and measure a county’s risk and vulnerability to high wind events, with a particular emphasis on hurricanes. For counties interested in increasing the number of evacuation shelter spaces within their community, the course discusses funding sources that may be used for retrofitting public facilities for shelter space purposes.

Registration will open on Monday, April 15th.  Registration for the entire day will be $125 for members and $65 for guests.  Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are included with the meeting materials. There are 10 Small County Scholarships available and members who qualify may apply online.
