The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved the state’s waiver request to implement the Long-Term Care Managed Care program, which is one component of the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care program established by the Legislature in 2011. Under the program, Medicaid-eligible seniors in need of long-term care will be enrolled into managed care plans.  AHCA plans to begin transitioning eligible recipients into managed care as soon as August 2013. CMS has not yet approved the waiver that will allow the state to implement the second, and broader, component for statewide managed care, which will require most Medicaid recipients in Florida to enroll in managed care plans.
