Last week, Eric Poole, FAC Assistant Legislative Director, appeared before the Senate Community Affairs Committee to present FAC’s policy priorities for 2013.  The Community Affairs Committee is responsible for  a range of local issues, including growth management, building codes, economic development, affordable housing, and community redevelopment, among others.  Mr. Poole mentioned that among the issues under the committee’s jurisdiction which are important to counties are: (1) growth management, where he stressed that no additional changes should be implemented this year; (2) proportionate share funding for road improvements, where it was mentioned that the statute needs to be clarified to create more balance between counties and developers; and (3) Regional Planning Councils, where FAC’s support for the role of RPCs and RPC funding was emphasized.
